Using this technology, pressure washers can run for thousands of hours before maintenance is needed. This is because the pistons in this type of pump are nearly 90% efficient.
This is also because the water flow is much smoother as the pistons are only sucking up the same volume of fluid each time. That means that each component only has to work a fraction as hard as it does in a wobble pump or an axial cam pump.
These pumps are also a lot more durable than a wobble pump because they don't have the two springs on each piston. This means they last twice as long and are easier to repair.
Axial vs Wobble
The wobble pump is smaller and less expensive than the other options but has a large spring on each piston to allow the wobble plate to push against it. That means it is 70% efficient as the wobble plate has to overcome the water and the two springs.
It is a good choice for light and medium duty use and has a lifespan of 200-400 hours (3 hours/week for 2-3 years). This is because it does not have many moving parts that can break down or need to be replaced as easily as the other types of pumps.
